Dmitry Starodubtsev
CTO and co-founder of Mighty Buildings
Dmitry Starodubtsev is a serial entrepreneur, inventor, technologist and sustainability expert that has developed over 50 new products including 14 US patents. Dmitry brings along materials and 3DP experience and is a CTO and Co-Founder at Mighty Buildings, a construction technology company, which creates beautiful, affordable, and sustainable
homes using 3D printing and robotic automation. Mighty Buildings is based in Oakland, CA and is backed by reputable VCs such as Khosla Ventures, Y Combinator, SV Angel, CoreVC, and others.
Background Dmitry holds a Master’s degree in Technical Physics. Dmitriy started his career as a research engineer developing algorithms for material and aerodynamic shape optimization of spacecrafts. At the same moment, he started work for his Ph.D. in the research institute of applied mathematics and mechanics (known as one of the key R&D contractors for the Apollo-Soyuz program). It’s the first international space mission carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union. Dmitry was developing algorithms for material and aerodynamic shape optimization of spacecraft. 2 years later Dmitry made a decision to leave his scientific career and switch to technology entrepreneurship, willing to accelerate the product development process and create his own development team and leverage more hands-on type of approach.
As CEO and Co-founder of DI Group (https://dilabs.tech/ru/), he has built an engineering firm which is centered around the interaction between people and sophisticated technologies. He managed to scale the company up to 120+ employees and developed 50+ new products and technologies for clients from over 15 different countries. DI Group clients include: Procter & Gamble, L’Oreal, Sberbank (third largest bank in Europe), MTS (mobile operator in Russia with 100 M+ subscribers), Gazprom (10% of the Russian GDP), Russian Railways (one of the largest transportation companies in the world).
In 2014 Dmitry switched to the consumer electronics business and relocated to Singapore, where he founded CreoPop. As CEO and Co-founder of CreoPop, he managed to develop and produce the world’s first 3D pen with a variety of unique cool inks. CreoPop is the first gadget in the consumer industry built at the nexus of different sciences and technologies – new advanced materials, hardware, and software. The product is sold in more than 2500 stores in 60+ countries around the world.
In Singapore Dmitry met Slava Solonitsyn, who invested in CreoPop as an angel and helped with the company launch. Together Dmitry and Slava foundered Mighty Buildings, a tech company that is revolutionizing the construction industry using advanced materials, patented 3D printing technology, and robotic automation. The construction industry is currently facing such challenges as: labor shortages, poor productivity, technology adoption and sustainability. All the solutions applied by the company are supported by their robust IP portfolio. Moreover Mighty Factory is designed to be placed in any regular warehouse without any special requirements in less than 6 months. Dmitry always dreamt of creating something which benefits people in a way no one has done before. And now his core tech and product vision can unlock productivity in a sustainable way, basically to fulfill the housing gap with the positive impact on ecology.
